Brake fluid exchange
Brakes maintenance – Brake fluid replenishment
One of the most important conditions of proper brakes performance is a bubble-free brake system. It is possible to prevent their presence in the system with permanent replenishment of the brake fluid in the master cylinder reservoir. Sufficient volume of brake fluid will prevent air infiltration from the reservoir into the master cylinder and pipes.
Brake fluid is not used up during the vehicle use and it vaporizes minimally. If you experience with brake fluid decrease, this is probably caused with brake system leak. Brake fluid also decreases when brake shoes are worn out and fluid gets in the cylinders area.
Brake fluid exchange
There are more ways how to exchange brake fluid. Here are two examples:
- Unbolt the cap of the reservoir located on the lever. Suck all old brake fluid with injection or vacuum bleeder out. Pour new brake fluid into reservoir and loosen bleeder screw on the caliper. Mount the brake hose. Press the lever fully and keep on pressing it and tightening the bleeder screw in the same time. Repeat this procedure until you see clean and clear fluid exiting the bleeder screw. Do not forget to check the brake fluid volume in the meantime.
- Unbolt the cap and suck all the old brake fluid out. Hook a tube connected with an injection containing new brake fluid on a bleeder bolt. Loosen the bolt slowly and inject new brake fluid (slowly). This procedure pushes the old brake fluid out to the container.
